It’s been raining a lot lately. It’s been dark and dreary, but today the skies cleared for a while making it possible to take a few pictures of my brand new shawl, the first of hopefully many more (who are not such a pain in the butt to knit). I brought my camera to work, and before going to lunch, Markus and I headed to the forest behind the building in which I work. (Ok, calling it a forest is perhaps stretching it – Finns would laugh their asses off. I work in Otaniemi.) Without further ado I present The Shawl
As you might notice, I am not a shawly type of person. I have seldom worn shawls and I’m still trying to figure out how to best wrap it around me.
The obligatory wingspan view (made very crappy by me not holding it properly – I’m new at this business).
I’m happy with my new shawl. I’m glad that I persevered. I’m glad I’m stubborn. All of the bad times are forgotten. (Still, I will never wash it again. What a drag.)
After the photo shoot, Markus and I figured that it was only fair that he should have his picture taken also. After all, he was wearing the mittens I knitted for him last christmas. They haven’t appeared on the blog, and the blog must be fed. So in addition to the shawl, I present to you my best friend Markus who is my favourite person in the world (apart from mom and dad and such).

The shawl is lovely. I especially like the color switch at the edging.

The shawl is beautiful and the mittens look practical.

Wow! Gorgeous! I love it. Can’t wait until my first shawl is done. (Oh, that probably means that I should be working on it…) You did a really great job. I think that you look good wearing it; no one would know you’re not used to that sort of thing. =)

Oh, forgot to ask: what pattern did you use for the mittens? I need to knit myself a pair like that.

æðislegt! virkilega fallegt sjal, hef reyndar oft skoðað þetta munstur sjálf, en aldrei látið verða af því, kannski núna þegar ég sé hvað þitt er fallegt. til hamingju, það er svo gaman þegar maður klárar eitthvað sem hefur látið svona illa við mann.

Ooh, it came out so lovely! The colours are so great. And the mittens are nice, I like how the tops fold down like that.

The shawl just LOOKS cozy. Somehow the colors and texture make me feel warm. Even though I’m indoors where the air conditioning is screaming.
Marcus and the mittens are great :-)

did you say which yarn you used for this shawl? thanks.

Congratulations! Many times;-) And although I’m not so fond of grey, this shawl is gorgeous. And the dark grey edging really makes the trick. It would have been duller in one colour. Nice job.

Oh, the shawl looks fabulous. Why decide for a way how to wear it? Just keep it moving (to show it off ;-))
I like the different edging on both the shawl and the mittens, very nice idea!

I love the shawl over the denim jacket! (I refuse to believe there is such a thing as a “non-shawly” person.) And love the photo(s) of Markus with mittens! Its nice to have a face to go with the name. ;-)
